An Image Maker is one who uses the photographic process to interpret people, places or objects from a personal perspective.A self-described Image Maker, Bill Janke captures a variety of subjects on film. His subjects include people, city and rural scenes, landscapes, water scenes and nature. He uses medium a format camera for much of his work, preferring to shoot mostly color negatives. A smaller portion of his work (color slides and black-and-white negatives are recorded on 135mm film. A tripod is his best friend as he uses smaller aperture settings and slow speed film. The Omaha native has lived and traveled extensively in the United States, preferring to 'discover' photographic opportunities in Nebraska and Iowa. An Image Maker needs to examine his or her environment for the not so obvious or often overlooked subjects. Rural scenes, parks, bridges, waterfalls, barns, city scenes, old buildings, and people make excellent subjects. Bill does freelance commercial photography and writing. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcasting/Journalism from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
